Book club – Choose your own adventure

Good morning book nerds! I said I’d post about which book to read next, and here it is! I’m posting early, in hopes that this post will get shared, and commented on. Tomorrow, I’ll post the results and I’ll talk about the first chapter of which ever book you guys and gals decide for me!

I think this will be fun, and I hope for maximum audience participation! So reshare, and comment my beautiful book nerds!

So without further adieu, I present the three books fighting to be read first. So here’s the deal. The book with the most votes, I’ll read first, next, second, and so forth. Fun!

So, vote early, vote often, just like in the US elections! I can’t wait to see what y’all decide! Until tomorrow, book nerds!

Book club: Plain Bad Heroines

Hello book nerds! I feel so much better now that I’ve finally finished Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth! It’s like some weight has been lifted off of me. I accomplished something the been literally months in the making.

It’s the journey, not the ending.

The ending was ok, it didn’t seem too rushed, like in the case of The Arctic Fury. But lemme tell you, that the last 15-20 pages felt like they just flew through my fingers.

This was a great book, it sucks you right in right from the beginning. I really liked it.

Tomorrow, dear book nerds, I’ll be posting an informal poll, to see which book I should read next. It’ll be easy – 3 books, and all you have to do is comment and tell me which one you want me to read first, second, and third.

Until tomorrow, nerds of the books!

Book haul – I took my dad to the hospital edition

So after I dropped my dad off at the hospital, I figured I had about 2 hours before I had to be back to pick him up. So I had some time.

First stop – Value Village. I didn’t find anything of note there. Sadly.

Then, after thinking about it, I decided to go to an actual bookstore. The book I actually went in for: If on a Winter’s Night a Traveller is nowhere to be found – I could order it, but any actual bookstore for pick up is two plus hours away, I could get it delivered, but then there’s the little thing of not having an actual credit card. So, I’ll wait for that.

I did find some books though! Not a lot though, because I’m relearning how to be an adult, and adults have budgets. So instead of books, I’m choosing electricity, rent, water, etc.

I did find two!

So after the book store, and the endorphin rush ended, I was parked across the street from the hospital, and waited. I brought a book. I think I made about 20 pages, and my dad was ready to be picked up.

So, the plan was, and will be for next week, that part of the weekend (after work) is to freakin buckle down and read, and hopefully finish Plain Bad Heroines.

Until next time we meet, book nerds!

Show me your bookcase(s)

So I just had to get out of Shady Acres for a while. I was going stir crazy. My mom yelled at my gramma because she’s not walking. She’ll get up in the morning, walk to the kitchen. Make breakfast. Sit for 2 hours playing in her iPad. Get up, and then walk to the living and sit there for hours. She puts all her weight on her walker. She has no balance. So today, she listened to my mom when she said if you don’t walk, you get a wheel chair, and if you get a wheel chair, you have to go into a home because I cannot lift you. So my gramma walked today. Well more like pacing. She’s get up from the kitchen, walk to stand behind my seat. Stand there for two minutes and talk back into the kitchen. By the time they left today, my anxiety level was through the roof.

So I drove down to The Flat. I have a couple of sweaters in the washer. It’s not that I don’t trust my mom, but she doesn’t wash in cold water, which is what the sweaters need to be washed in. As far as she’s concerned, the dryer has one setting – perma press. I’m pretty sure she shrunk my work sweatshirt. It was small to begin with on me.

But I digress.

Anyways, the reason for this post BOOKCASES! As most of you know, I’m 99% of the way moved into The Flat. I wanna show you my bookcases, in hopes you’ll share some of yours with me!

The Flat came with a built in, which by the way is totes full, and my mom donated my grammas bookcase, which is almost full. My gramma donated my grandfathers collection of Zane Grey novels (not gonna do a book haul on those!), so they’re on display. When I’m fully moved in, I’ll organize the books to my liking. But for now, here ya go!!

Book club – Update.

Ok, I know I’ve stopped reading, but I have a really good excuse. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been moving. I’ll be 100% moved in on Thursday the first of April.

So that means, I’ll be able to start up the Lockup Library Book Club right where we left off. In fact, I kinda jumped in right where I left off the day before yesterday.

It’s been a while, so I’m still getting up to speed from where I left off. Have y’all still been reading? I feel guilty for not reading. However, one of the first loads I took were all my books. But a couple of days ago, before work, and with a cup of coffee, I dived back in.

It’s gonna be nice to just sit down in the mornings, and read for a little bit.

So bear with me book nerds! I will return!!
