Stand on the bar, stomp your feet, start clappin’

Good morning everyone. It looks like the wind has died down, and some snow fell overnight. The supposed to snow all day into the early evening. It’ll just be annoying through out the course of the evening. We’ll (probably me) will have to do some shovelling outside at work.

Yesterday’s shift wasn’t too bad. Everyone was in a good mood, and we tossed some jokes around while we were working. I cleaned, and the others put out freight, while BossLady did her order for groceries. Since the coffee pot died yesterday, when I got into work, I went right for the coffee, and made myself a cup. Then another one.

The day went quickly. One of the second shift kids came in for work, wearing only a hoodie. We had wind gusts of about 48kph. It was crazy, and the wind got worse, as the night went on. Course he’s 16/17, and still thinks that he’s invincible.

Used the new coffee pot for the first time today. Damn, is it quiet. I had to check twice that it was actually working. I’m sure it’ll get louder and louder as it gets pushed to its limits in daily use.

I think it’s Tuesday. No, it’s Wednesday. I hope y’all have an enjoyable middle day of the week.

Here’s to them underneath that burning sun do they know it’s Christmastime at all?

It’s still windy out there.

So I get into work yesterday afternoon. I pull into my usual spot, and realize I won’t be able to get out because of a snow drift. Long story short, I parked under the overhang. The acting manager neglected to tell us that if it gets really bad, we can leave. I found this out by sarcastically texting the general manager the photo above with Merry Christmas. That’s when he told us. We stayed until 15 minutes before closing. We hadn’t had a customer in 2 and a half hours.

Some idiots: (I think they have the thought – “if they’re open, it’s my duty to try and make it there to buy bullshit.”)

  • The old guy that has a portable oxygen unit comes in complaining that you can’t see the highway. Total white out. I ask why he came in then. His answer: rice. The wife is making cabbage rolls.
  • The woman in the sports car that came in for two cream soda dr peppers. 15 minutes later a regular comes in on a snowmobile, saying a sports car is in the ditch. Karma at its finest.
  • High school kids. Because, why not? I get it. You’re bored. But come on y’all literally just got your license. you have no experience driving in white out conditions.

Thankfully pretty much all the regulars came in as they were getting off work. I shovelled a couple of times. I’m not looking forward to digging out here at the flat. Then I quickly have to pop over to the tiny grocery store for bacon for brunch tomorrow.

It’ll be a somewhat busy day off today. Shovelling, bacon, and making pancakes. Crystal will say, nah but we’ll make them. There’s no wrestling on this weekend. The WWE is on Christmas vacation. And all the live shows have aired, and some that were supposed to be live have been filmed and aired.

So let’s ingest some coffee, and wait for the sun to rise. Boom, Shaka Laka! Let’s gooo!

May your days be merry and bright

The day started with a bang.

Literally.

I’m warm, comfy, and snuggled up to The Beautiful One, when it happened. Mind you, I don’t know what time it is because, Podrick was in the bedroom earlier, and flipped my clock over. So I’m clueless on what time it is (as opposed to just being clueless).

I took my time getting dressed. I got up and padded into the kitchen, turning on the coffee pot. I opened the curtains, and turned on the TV. Then I turned my attention to getting dressed. As Crystal cleaned up what Podrick got into.

I have to remember to get zip ties tonight.

We’re all up now, and ready to greet the day. the coffee has been brewed, and the news is on. It’s freakin cold out there today. And it doesn’t look like it’s gonna warm up too much. Podrick, since all his humans are awake, is lounging on the shelf, just looking around.

I have to work this afternoon, but that’s what’s not important. When I get home, I’ll watch SmackDown. John Cena’s last match is tomorrow. I never watched him wrestle in his prime, but strangely enough, the WWE is very good at pulling at your heart strings. I’m excited, but know I’m an emotional bitch. I’ll probably tear up tomorrow night.

More coffee, please.

Yay, Friyay!

I had my hair piled high and my baby just looked so right

Well, it’s finally stopped snowing sometime in the night. Hopefully, now the town will actually start to dig out. I asked the part time retiree that works with us, who’s also on the town council why they haven’t started plowing the town. He didn’t know why they hadn’t started. (Yesterday afternoon). But according to my weather app, we had over a foot of snow in 24 hours.

It’s a heavy wet, Rhode Island snow. It was a bitch to shovel at work, and I’m not really looking forward to shovelling my walkway. But we’ll deal with that later. I’m hoping that it’ll warm up quick enough, that I don’t really have to do too much.

Maybe that’s wishful thinking. But I’ll take it.

So I get a text from my mom yesterday morning, asking if I could help her with her big cat. Phoebe. Phoebe is a large girl, and over the last week, has had some blood in her urine, and isn’t eating too much. I helped my mom take her to the vet. She got weighed, and officially is 25lbs. I was playing with the vets cats, and my mom asked if I would like her to post on the towns bulletin board asking for a kitten for us. I said sure. Within an hour or two, I had a couple of texts from people with orange kittens. One was 7 months old, and the second one was 6 weeks old. I replied to the text with the 6 week old kitten. Tomorrow, we’ll be heading to a local farm, to take a look at the little guy.

Pippin could have a tiny brother by noon tomorrow. Crystal has been telling her all about the new little guy. Pictures soon.

Coffee first.

Late breaking story on the CBC

As Crystal put it in a text message to her mother: IT WAS ALL MELTED. SPRING WAS HERE.

Ahh yes, but welcome to second winter. Although if you were counting, this is technically, like fourth winter. But yep, it’s snowing. And should pretty much be snowing for the foreseeable future, and into the evening as well.

Yesterday was a mix of laziness, and cleaning. Li did the chores, and in late morning, I cooked brunch. Other than that, I played Balatro for pretty much the whole afternoon, frustrating myself in the process. But I actually managed to beat another deck. It kind of snuck up on me, and then BOOM! I get the you won message.

Yeah, I was surprised. I showed the screen to Crystal, and said oh shit, I won! After the win, I had a couple of hours of pure shit being dealt to me. It was wicked frustrating, but I powered through it, and played more. I didn’t win on another deck, but I did manage to get my first ever Royal Flush!

That surprised me!

Back to work this afternoon. And, I think probably by the end of the week, this white shit will be gone again soon.

Merry Christmas!
