Lockup Library – general updates

Hey book nerds! This is just a quick note, a “State of the Union” so to speak (so please hold your applause til the end), of what’s going on over here at the Lockup Library.

I’ve been slacking, but reading a lot more, so I have to get back into it. I assume most every book blogger out there schedules posts. They rarely talk about it, but they do. I’m going to talk about some posts that’ll be coming up in the near future.

There’s going to be some fun stuff coming up. I’m excited to share that sometime this week, or next we’re going to have a guest blogger – Crystal from chicky dot blog will be stopping in to talk about crafting with books.

I’m going to be doing a 3 part miniseries of the books I’ve read since last June. I didn’t want to shove all the books I’ve read into one post, so it’ll be a three parter.

I’m going to schedule a couple of Book Club books, that way if there’s any lurkers out there that want to participate, but don’t want to comment, they can still go out and get the books and follow along.

I’m gonna put out a quick list of 3 or 4 books I want to reread, no time frame for the actual rereads, just some books I want to reread.

I still have one book to put up a book haul. The last time I went into BiggerTown, I only got one book. While disappointing, I still walked out with one book.

Then maybe a meme or two.

That’s all for now, keep on reading you beautiful book nerds!

Book club – what’s next?

Hey book nerds! I interrupt your nice a quiet Saturday evening to ask a question. I just finished The Arctic Fury, (more on that at our regular book club meeting) and I’d like to know, which book to read next.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve read these books before, or have never heard of them. I’m going to ask you to simply choose – based solely on the cover. So yes, please, judge a book by its cover.

You tell me what you want me to read for February’s book club, and that’s the one I’ll read. Seriously, you choose, and I’ll read.

Here’s the choices:

Simple! Just make a quick comment, and I’ll introduce it at the end of book club tomorrow!

Come one! Come all!

Lockup Library questions for you guys

Hey book nerds. I’m sitting here wracking my brain to figure out what to post – bookish stuff.

I’ll admit, I have no idea what I’m doing here. It’s hard to know if what I am doing is right. I get no feed back from people reading. At this point I don’t even know if people are reading what I write.

I post stuff looking for feedback, or some sort of interaction. I get nothing. EDIT: the last 10 book posts (at least 4 asked for feed back) I got NO comments. Nothing. Nathan. Nada. It’s very frustrating.

What do you guys want to see?

Hello, is this on? – taps microphone.

I post for me, I really really do. I do however hope for some interaction. It’s hard to spend time and energy into book blogging when people just scroll by. Do I need flashier graphics? I don’t know. I think I will keep posting about book stuff. I probably should learn how to link back to people and all that stuff.

I guess I’ll have to buckle down and continue putting out bookish content for me. And maybe, just maybe, someone will make a comment.

Until next time, book nerds!

What’s your bookcase look like?

I’m a curious guy, I like to see what other people book shelves are like. When I got to TinyTown in June, I had 7 books. They, when stacked on the floor came to probably lower shin. I didn’t have a bookcase until July or August I think. My mom and I went to a yard sale where they had a metal 4 shelf bookcase. She bought it for me. By that time I maybe had 20 books.

Well, that bookcase is full, and the stacked pile on the floor comes to close to my knee. I’m working on finding another bookcase. As long as it’s inexpensive.

So what’s your bookcase look like? I’d love to see it.

Where’s your reading nook?

What’s your favourite place to read? Your Fortress of Solitude? Do you hid in the bathroom to read to get away from your kids? In the bathtub after a hard days work? Where’s your book nook?

Me? I’m a simple guy. I like to lay on my bed. That’s my Fortress of Solitude. I’m left alone when I’m in my room. When I’m in my room, I’m surrounded by friends. My friends are my books. Crystal is in my room too. There’s pictures of her all over the walls there. I’m not alone when I’m in my room.

I do all of my reading in there. It’s quiet and for the most part mine.

It makes me happy in there.
