Moonlight, you’re just a heartache in disguise

Ok, happy Saturday. Didn’t have the greatest of sleeps, especially when you’re dreaming that you’re getting shock treatment. That, and mentally rearranging your bedroom at 2am. Usually, I fall right asleep. Last night for some reason, I was changing oil on a truck that I don’t own. But wished I owned. I’m in farm country now, and while I’d like a sports car, I’m looking for an older model Ford F-150 (1977-1989), or an El Camino. Then I was either too hot to be under the blankets, or too cold to be on top. Then it depended on which side I slept on wether or not I could breathe. Good times.

So I got up this morning, made some coffee, and then I got to work moving my room around. And funny enough, it was essentially exactly how I pictured it in my mind at 2am. Then my mom wanted a tapestry put up, so dad and I did that. My gramma found a mirror that she wanted hung, so I hung that.

Then, I vacuumed, steam-cleaned the floor in the living room, and hallway. I swept and steamed the bathroom floor, and sprayed down the shower with Scrubbing Bubbles. Once Shady Acres goes down for their afternoon nap, I’ll sweep and steam the kitchen floor. It’s been a busy morning.

So pretty much all I’ll really have to do later is make my bed. Everything that I’ve wanted to do is pretty much done. And I got 90% of it done before 10 am. Tonight, before bed, I’ll hop in the shower, so I’m clean to get in the clean bed. Other than the above, I don’t have anything else to do.

Midnight, and I’m a-waiting on the twelve-oh-five

Awake! I had a pretty good sleep, sleeping on top of the covers until sometime in the night, where climbed up and got warm again. I think I dreamed last night. All I know if I had a shitty country song stuck in my head. ALL NIGHT. I thought about posting a link, but why should I give power to a shitty song?

We had to go to BiggerTown yesterday for my gramma to get her hearing aids serviced. It's a long drive. About 2ish hours just to get there. As of yesterday Walmart Canada has decreed that everyone going in has to wear a mask. Lemme tell you, from what I could see, 100% participation. That's better than what a Walmart in the USA could do, I betcha.

Anyone want to play some hockey? Game on! So we get through Walmart, and instead oft gramma having a banana split waffle for lunch, then feeling sick for the rest of the day, we tried a different place. It was OK. Nothing to write home about. I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't a seniors menu for gramma, and they were out of her go-to choice. No fish and chips!

So the trip home was uneventful, just long. It makes for a long day, when you want to go to Walmart, and it's a 4+ round trip. You really need to bundle up what you want to do. Yanno, hit as many shops as you possibly can and load up. It's just not feasible to make that long of a drive to get one item.

Where'd you go? I dunno. I forget 😂

Sometimes a wide turn, sometimes a quick one.

Sitting here watching Guys Grocery Games (Triple G for those in the know), and have really noticed that everywhere you can drive in 2 hours here, there’s no book store. Nothing other than about 4 second hand stores, that pretty much have a bookcase or two.

Other than that you’re looking at maybe 2:20 worth of driving to get to an actual bookstore. Granted I probably wouldn’t buy, but it would be nice too look. I only have 1 or 2 books left in the queue. All my mom reads here is Nora Roberts/JD Robb, Danielle Steel, and is now getting into James Patterson.

And she’s more than welcome to read any of my books, but I don’t think that she’s ready for House of Leaves. Besides, if she wanted to read it, I’d go and get her a brand new copy, as mine is all written in. Although, I’m not sure that she’d like it too much. It’s a bit of a dark story. But it’s my favourite book, thanks to The Editor and her amazing taste, and knowing what I’d love. I think I’ve read it about 5 or 6 times.

Why not add this book? My post, I do what I want! You must respect my authoritah!

Held a bird’s egg between her breasts

Happy hump day y’all! It’s been a week today hasn’t it, nudge nudge, wink wink. Say no more! A nudge is as good as a wink to a blind bat, yanno. It’s a bright and sunny, but a slightly windy morning here in TinyTown. The guy across the street is using an angle grinder to chop up some metal. Me, on my second cup of coffee. Shady Acres is slowly starting to wake up.

Nothing much going on here today. I thinking I’m helping my mom bake some bread. Tomorrow we have to go into BiggerTown, to helps grandmother deal with her hearing aids, and pick up a few things at Walmart. Me? I’m thinking about lunch in BiggerTown. I’ve been craving something. But I don’t know what it is. I just want ….. something, ya know?

I can’t wait until they open the border. I miss my wife. I miss everything about her, and I want to get started here. Another week or two and I should be getting started talents on getting some ID. Can’t wait. But for now, holding pattern.

She want that cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake

So finally. Sunday. SUNDAY! Bake day. I've been waiting for this day for like a week and a half. I'm making The Editor's secret family recipe: Pumpkin Chocolate chip Cake. It's actually in the oven right now.

Slight deviation from the recipe. The chocolate chips melted in the heat on the way home from the grocery store, so I had to chop them a little bit. I think it'll taste a little better as a lot more of the chocolate will melt as some of its chopped smaller than regular size chips. I've already been told I'll probably be makin another one closer to the holidays, as my mom makes a basket for dads boss.

The usual suspects of the cake. It calls for 14-15oz of pumpkin but I put a little more in mostly by mistake. That's ok, there was one time that I put a whole large can of pumpkin in, and it turned out just fine. Yes, I pull out all the ingredients, and put them all in order before starting, and as I use them, I put them away. I'm a baking nerd like that.

I'm used to a KitchenAid mixer, Andy moms is broken, but she has this kick ass mixer, which is just as good as the KitchenAid, in my opinion. I had to have mom show me how to assemble it. So of course, I got momsplained on the 3 different speeds, and the pulse function.

Like the KitchenAid, this mixed up very fast. So I added the chocolate chips and mixed for approximately 4.231 seconds and it was ready to be put in the bundt pan. At this point I had to sample my work. It tastes really good. Gave a small spoon of it to my mom, she really likes it. My grandmother cleaned the beaters off.

So it has another 30 minutes, then a few hours of cooling before we can eat it. I can't wait to try it. I can't wait for everyone else to try it for the first time. I just wish The Editor was here to have helped me bake it, and to have a slice with some squirty cream. But that'll happen soon enough, and it's gonna be grand!

And now the waiting starts. It has to cool for 15 minutes in the pan, then another 2 hours on the rack. Smells so good and it's cooked all the way through. That's a good thing for sure! Both me and The Editor want to tuck into it right now. With or without the squirty cream. But alas, (earwax) it would be way too hot, and against the instructions.

Book Shaka Laka. Complete. This thing of beauty is on its final cooling. My work here is done 😀
