Movie review: RRR Shawshank, January 15, 2023 So last night, I took the chance on turning on a movie, that we only watched the trailer to on Netflix. It was fantastical – a man running from a tiger for around a minute. I was kind of hooked. So yesterday, just for the fun of it, half expecting to shut it off minutes in, we sat down to watch RRR. What a good movie. Don’t let the three hour run time daunt you. It’s a cinematic masterpiece. But don’t call it a Bollywood film. According to the director, it’s a Telugu film. To me, it’s an action/adventure movie. It’s a buddy film. If it was an American film, it would probably be a buddy-cop film. But thankfully it’s not an American movie. I don’t think an American film studio could make an epic movie like this, and I hope that they never try. From the slowmo action shots to the 47 minute dance off, it’s exactly what we needed to see last night. This was our first Indian movie that we’ve watched (except the snippets of Indian movies playing at India Restaurant). So give this movie a chance. Open up your Netflix, and turn it on. You won’t be disappointed. My only thought is our first Indian movie has set the bar very high. We’re worried that all the other movies will fail to hold a candle to watch we just watched. Tiny Town Home Video Home Video – The Hunger Games April 12, 2021 So, this week, instead of reading, I watched a trilogy in 4 parts. That’s right, movie nerds, I watched The Hunger Games. Based on a bestselling trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins, we’re transported to the world of Panem. I won’t get into the whole history of the Hunger Games…. Read More

Tiny Town Home Video Take a chance, roll the dice September 10, 2022 On Tuesday, September the 6th, I finished Campaign 2 of Critical Role – The Mighty Nein. To be honest, I didn’t think that I would finish it. I usually start lots of shows, but I rarely finish any of them. Especially new shows I’ve never seen before. I’ll always go… Read More
Good morning, world. We’ve reached the final stretch of our weekend. There’s a film of ice across the deck and walkway, which means shit was cold and moist overnight. I feel like I should spend $20 on a plastic disk and make Shawshank drag me to the truck. Our Saturday was pretty uneventful. Shawshank worked until 2pm, but the rest of the day was ours. We drove out to Slightly BiggerTown and made our rounds. I snagged some more paints at the dollar store, then hit the pharmacy and the discount shop. Most of our time was spent in the grocery store, which was to be expected. We bought some weed on the way out of town. We arrived back at the house just in time to deal with Chaucer starting his pre-dinnertime routine. We’re trying to sort through bags and portion out meats. At the same time, Chaucer would find the most inconvenient spot to stand in at any given point. We might forget about him, or his dinner, if he’s not directly underfoot. After dinner, we settled on the couch and Shawshank fired up Netflix. We watched “RRR“. I was a little hesitant, worried about how my toddler-brain would handle the movie’s 3-hour runtime. My fears were unfounded, as the movie didn’t feel anywhere near that long. We both ended up absolutely loving it. I’m trying to force it on everyone this morning. I don’t think Mom will watch it, but I tried. Reply
