Let’s start a war, start a nuclear war

Good afternoon! Yep, I’ve been posting a little later in the day, because all this week, I have opening shifts – up at 4:30 and out of the store by 1:45. Today was no different. I think I like the morning shifts over the closing shifts, which are 1:15-9. That kinda sucks but what can you do? I’m at the mercy of the schedule. It’s all good though. I work with some pretty cool people. They’re all younger than me, but I’m of that age that most people that I’d be working with are younger.

It’s been warm here. Strangely warm. The streets are like huge puddles, and the snow is melting rapidly. It feels and smells like spring out there. We’re gonna get our asses kicked, because I’m predicting at least one more cold snap, and at least one more really good snowfall/blizzard. We usually get one end of March or into April. Winter is coming. Mark me. Mark. Me.

But other than that, things haven’t changed too much around here. Just working, and what feels like just sleeping. I came home today with a fresh loaf of Italian bread, and told Crystal that I had an idea for dinner: her, me, the loaf of bread, and butter. She asked what I wanted with it, and I simply said “um, the butter.” I don’t think she was too impressed.

Is three paragraphs enough for the day? Hmm I don’t know. There’s a lot of images to this post because the WordPress/Jetpack app is a piece of shit, and isn’t featuring my featured image at the top of the post in the app itself. So I find that I have to add an image to the post so it actually stands out a little.

But, I digress.

Have a safe and super sparkly day!

You give me a reason to live

Here we are, back again for another post. Yep, I could’ve posted this morning, but at 4:30, I couldn’t string two words together if I tried, so I fired that it would be better to post this afternoon when I got back from work.

Work was actually busy this morning. Not with customers, mind you, but with moving stuff around. BossLady had talked to a vendor yesterday, and either today or tomorrow, there will be a couple of racks, and a cooler being delivered to us. We did the prep work this morning, so it should be an easier time when they arrive.

And we have a cooler in the break room again. And of course, that had to be all moved around. Much to our enjoyment when the closers came in, and were very confused.

We laughed at them.

But now I’m at home watching Crystal play Divinity 2. It’s a fun game, I just can’t wrap my head around the angle that that camera is. And you can’t move the camera angle to make it actually better.

But I digress.

We’re either going to have hamburgers or chicken burgers tonight. I think I’m leaning toward buffalo chicken bacon burgers. But we’ll see what the beautiful one would like.

And I think my spaceship knows which way to go

Hey hey space nerds! We’re back with more pretty pictures, and my stunted way of explaining what I’m doing in my 120ish hours playing No Man’s Sky.

Things have been progressing slowly. I swear that’s now this game works. You can get shit accomplished, but only after a “warm up” of at least an hour. It takes me about that long to really get into the swing of things.

One of the first things I do after logging in for a session is to check the expeditions. I have 3 control rooms that coordinate 15 ships that do my bidding. I started out with 5 originally. I stumbled upon them and recruited them. They were all class C ships, frigates, support ships, explorers, etc. I kept on with solo expeditions for a while, slowly watching the ships get better and better. The original 5 are all now class S ships.

So I recruited more. I’d say that 80% of them are class S now with the remainders being a mix of class C, B, and I think a couple of class A. I try to send them on the longest expeditions. The longer, the better in my mind. I try and stick to exploration, and trade missions as they seem to give the most money.

You can collect spaceships in the game. I have a few. A couple of repaired sentinel ships, that look cool, but are pretty basic. I usually don’t fly them too often, because they can take some pretty specific fuel for them that, while I have some fuel, I don’t have a lot.

I have one other S class ship (outside of my daily driver) that as I write this, I’m pondering just scrapping, as I never fly it. I have my tried and true Theseus, which is probably the 5th ship of its name. I’ve tried to at least take one bit of technology out of the old ones to put in the new Theseus.

I have a rare squid like white ship, which I’ve named Zampano’s Sight – which if you know, you know. Am I right? I’ve actually installed a launch thruster recharger on it, so it kind of acts more like Theseus and her solar sails.

There’s Lil Peeper, named by Crystal. She’s a tiny little ship, that’s also rare from what I’ve read. I’m slowly upgrading Peeper. She’s a fast ship, that’s very streamlined. Peeper also has a launch thruster recharger on it, but she’s a thirsty one, gulping down warp fuel like there’s no tomorrow. No extra scanners, or even an emergency warp in it. I don’t really run from battles anymore. When a battle comes at me, I have a squadron of 3 other ships come in to help. Help is really a strong word in this sense. They don’t seem to actually do anything until I do it. They mirror what I’m doing. They’ll shoot at bad guys, but I’ve never actually seen them actually destroy any ships.

So I’m still exploring a lot. I’ve found an abandoned space station that’s really fucking creepy. It’s dark, and I swear you can hear scratching and groaning. I’ve been there twice to explore. Over the last couple of plays, I’ve found the crafting recipes for the Atlaspasses. All three of them. So I’ve been letting myself into rooms that I’ve never been in before. I had built up these passes in my mind – so I was a little disappointed in actually using them to get into new places. Although I do get more antimatter, and the housing to make more warp cores. I have a lot of them now. I don’t think I’ll run out of fuel anytime soon.

Like I’ve said, I’m slowly pushing through the main quests of the game. I’m pretty sure I’ve hit a stand still though. I need to get puces to continue, but even looking them up online, it’s so convoluted to even begin searching for these pieces. Next time though, I’m going to try to get into the swing of things quicker, so I’m not screwing the pooch for 45 minutes before I actually play.

I’m sure I’m forgetting tonnes of stuff. But it’s a pretty good recap so far.

Hate to give the satisfaction, asking how you’re doing now

I’m feeling pretty groggy this morning. I think I had a good sleep. I passed out pretty quickly last night. I don’t think I moved too much until about 5, when I had to get up and go to the bathroom. I climbed back into bed, and then suddenly, the alarm went off.

Yesterday wasn’t actually too bad. I got into work for 7am. We started counting, and pretty much by about 10-10:30, the main part of the counting done. Around 11, we broke for a quick lunch. After the lunch, we started the discrepancy report, and that went rather quickly. I left shortly after that. Not a bad day at all. Probably the easiest day at work. I got to tell customers to leave, and or get out of the store. It’s always a good day when you can tell the people coming in, that no, you can’t actually buy anything today.

I came home and played some No Man’s Sky while Crystal snuggled with Chaucer, and napped while I did some boring “office work”. If I can, I’ll post about it today. It was pretty good. I didn’t have the brain power to actually do other things. I cleaned out my inventory and moved all sorts of stuff around.

Today will be a nice day. Since I had to work yesterday, all the chores will be taken care of this morning. Also! We’ll be having brunch today! Woot, brunch! Other than brunch, there’s not too many plans today. Possibly a nap. A nap would be pretty nice.

It’s slowly starting to warm up here. You see the problem isn’t that it’s warming up, is that it’s too early for it to be warming up. There’s at least one more cold snap out there for us, and one, maybe 2 good snow falls that hasn’t happened yet.

But I’ll take this nice weather for as long as it’s with us. Warm weather in January is a nice thing.

Back to work again tomorrow. It’s a week of opening shifts. That means up early, but also home early. That’s the way I’m thinking of it. Happy Monday everyone.
