‘Cause I’m never gonna stop the rain by complaining

Morning, all. It’s been raining, I think for all night. These goddamn farmers better be happy with all this rain, cause I sure ain’t. I’m not even impressed. Now, it’s just warm, and I still have to wear a coat.

We’re all awake here, and Chaucer wants into my lap. He’s slowly making his way on to my lap. He’ll snuggle until I finish posting, then it’ll be time to start the day. He’s just happy to be on my lap. He’s a good boy.

Other than that, Pippin is up and looking out the front window. She cried a little to put the table out the back door. I explained why I wasn’t going to open the door for her this morning. She probably didn’t understand, but I said my piece and I think she’s ok with it.

Closing shift for a couple of days. I have to actually close the store a least a couple days this week and at least once next week, because my fears have come true, I’ll be the head honcho in a couple of weeks, ON A SATURDAY.

Oh joy.

I need more coffee.

That’s great! It starts with an earthquake

Oooh, look, a post coming at you in the morning! That only means one thing- I’m working a non opening shift this fine day. I think that the wind has finally wound down again. We’ll see if the day will be nicer than the previous days. I haven’t looked at the weather app yet. At this point, I’m a little afraid too.

Sleep came easy, so did waking up. I was up a couple of times. I think once around midnight? I’m not too sure. I do know I was up around 5, and took advantage of that, and got up to go to the bathroom. I crawled back into bed, tired to snuggle, and quickly fell back asleep until the alarm went off.

The cats have been fed, coffee brewed, and all is right so far in this dark world. Is winter over? Heck no. I think, and this is totally non scientific, that we have at least two more cold snaps before this winter finally releases her grip on us. So yeah, this is just the calm before the store. Winter is coming.

But yeah, that’s about it. After I post this, I’ll look at the weather app, and get the real scoop on the temps. Ok, let’s do this…

The meat carved was drawn from succulent juices

Good morning. It’s dark, and probably cold out there this morning. I’ve been up on and off since about 4am. The first time was about 4:10. I woke up, looked at the alarm, and reminded myself that I didn’t have to be at work until 1:15. I fell back asleep.

The next time was around 5. Again, I reminded myself that I didn’t have to be at work until 1:15. I got up, and went to the bathroom, and then fell back asleep again. The bed was comfy, but just a little bit too warm. Mostly.

I didn’t get out of bed again.

Then the next time that I woke up was 2 or 3 times starting around 6ish. At this point it was starting to get just a little annoying. I found a position that I could breathe, and so I was comfortable. I think it worked, because I don’t think I woke up until around 6:40ish. At this point I refused to look at the clock.

Then the alarm clock went off.

And now, here we are! The coffee has been brewed, and we both have a cup of the good stuff. In a few, I’ll be hoping into the shower, and getting the day started. Currently with the wind, we’re sitting at -42°. It’s a little gusty out there, and it’s supposed to be like this for the rest of the day.

So let’s get the day started! It’s dark and cold! Winter is here. But spring is just around the corner. 64 days until the first day of spring! We can make it, right?!
