Book club

I admit, I’m in a reading slump. The last two books I’ve started to read, didn’t click with me. They’re back on the shelf. I will revisit them at a later time, I promise. I get out of work, and I’m mentally exhausted. I don’t have the attention span to read. In the evenings after dinner, I’ve been watching an episode of Bridgerton as a way to relax before my nightly call with Crystal. The bad thing – I’m out of episodes. So now I have to find another show. But, if I can’t, I can try reading at night to relax.

I haven’t experienced a reading slump in years. How does one get out of a slump? I don’t have any experience in reading slumps at all. Do I just try and power through it?

So the book for the Lockup Library Book Club, is The Arctic Fury by Greer MacAllister.

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago when I went to BigCity. It looks very interesting. In 1850s Boston, adventurer Virginia Reeve is summoned by Lady Jane Franklin, who asks Virginia to lead a women’s expedition to the Arctic in order to find out what happened to her husband, Sir John Franklin, who disappeared there with his crew.

I love books set around this time. I don’t know why, it just seems like the perfect time. Give me a story from the late 1700s/1800s and I am a happy camper. Victorian England? OMG, yes please.

I hope this one helps me out of my slump. If it doesn’t, I don’t know what I’m going to do.

Just built! Show me your shelves! Do eet!

Hey book nerds! Before I went to SlightlyBiggerTown, mom suggested I look in the local hardware stores to find some shelves for my books. I had a stack of books, up to my hip on the floor because they wouldn’t fit on my shelves.

As I was waiting for my KFC, I surfed over to the local Home Hardware, and found what I was looking for – plastic shelving. With these shelves, I can hold a 1000 pounds of books, if I wanted to.

And they can be added to. They are prebuilt to be interlocking, which is a great feature, if and when I need to add another. For the first time all my books are in one place.

So please, some audience participation. Please, link me in the comments with pictures of your bookshelves. I really want to see what they look like.

Book haul – welcome to the world!

Hey book nerds! Just wanted to share a quick book haul. But get this, the books are not for me this time! They’re for my baby nephew, E. as an aunt and uncle, we’re trying to get things for the kids that have nothing to do with screen time.

Board games, card games, and LEGO. that’s the kind of aunt and uncle we are.

Well baby E came in to this world a couple months back, and for his first present, we’re getting him books. Books are awesome, and I hope he grows a love of books like Crystal and I.

Until next time book nerds!

Lockup Library questions for you guys

Hey book nerds. I’m sitting here wracking my brain to figure out what to post – bookish stuff.

I’ll admit, I have no idea what I’m doing here. It’s hard to know if what I am doing is right. I get no feed back from people reading. At this point I don’t even know if people are reading what I write.

I post stuff looking for feedback, or some sort of interaction. I get nothing. EDIT: the last 10 book posts (at least 4 asked for feed back) I got NO comments. Nothing. Nathan. Nada. It’s very frustrating.

What do you guys want to see?

Hello, is this on? – taps microphone.

I post for me, I really really do. I do however hope for some interaction. It’s hard to spend time and energy into book blogging when people just scroll by. Do I need flashier graphics? I don’t know. I think I will keep posting about book stuff. I probably should learn how to link back to people and all that stuff.

I guess I’ll have to buckle down and continue putting out bookish content for me. And maybe, just maybe, someone will make a comment.

Until next time, book nerds!

Book Club – Confessions on the 7:45

Hey hey, book nerds! Welcome to another book club post. It’s mostly apologizing again, for not having the time this week. I started it last week about got maybe 20% through the first half of the book.

The book that I’ve chosen for January is Confessions on the 7:45 by Lisa Unger.

I’m sort of enjoying it. I don’t know though. I’m gonna stick through it though. Because that’s what I do. No books not finished this year. It does grab my attention. I just have to get in the reading zone again.

Until next time book nerds!
