It’s a race and there ain’t no room for someone in second place

Podrick let us (me) sleep in! I only really felt him once. He landed on my hip, and quickly moved on with what he was doing. He came back up on the bed, and was close to me. I opened an eye and looked at the clock: 7:44. Time to get up. I gave him some loves, an heaved myself out of bed.

Time to greet the day.

A spike indeed. I had over 190 visitors yesterday! I’ve probably had about 400ish over the last two weeks. Crystal thinks it’s probably bots doing whatever bots do. But it’s still crazy, that bots are so interested in my little corner of the ‘net.

Work was less chaotic than the day before. We had just about 300 people come through our doors and buy something. Yesterday, I walked into work and saw just about every employee outside staring at the ground – a nozzle fell off the gas pump. About 5 litres of fuel had spilt all over the ground. The acting manager was fumbling to try and get a picture to send to the GM. I pulled out my phone and snapped the picture and then it to the GM with the caption “now what”. Within about 45 minutes, the boss got here and fixed it. Woohoo! It actually takes something to break to get it fixed. Nothing proactive allowed!

Put on your brake lights, you’re in the city of wonder

Morning.

It’s gray, and surprisingly not too windy out there. Nice. I slept like shit last night. It took what felt like 45 minutes to get to sleep. Then I was up early, because, Podrick.

He’s definitely a morning person. I am totally not a morning person. I don’t even know how to explain it, so I won’t. He knows how to poke me to get a response from me. For right now, he’s motionless. he has so much energy first thing in the morning, it’s insane. He gets into everything, because, while he doesn’t look like a kitten anymore, he’s still most definitely is still a kitten.

Work wasn’t too bad last night. It’s that time of the year, as soon as you get back inside, and take off your coat, you have to go back out – coat back on, gloves back on – once more into the breach. It was, I would say, steady last night. Not balls to the wall busy, but just enough people coming in that it was difficult to get our check list completed. We managed to get out pretty much on time, with prodding from me (ie: don’t you think it’s time to count the cash?). My coworker was just all over the place, he was just a little scatter-brained.

Back at it again this afternoon. But we’re doing something different this morning: breakfast for lunch. And if there’s bacon left over, we’ll have burgers for lunch tomorrow.

But before we get to tomorrow, we’ll get through today first. I think work will be pretty good. Busy again I’m sure, which will be nice. Busy always helps the day go quicker. Let’s goooo.

The track hits your eardrum like a slug to your chest

Good morning. Podrick has been annoying since about 5 or so this morning. I just have to remember he’s just a kitten, and mostly feral. it doesn’t help, but I have to remember that.

But we’re all up and mostly awake this morning. The coffee has been brewed, and poured into mugs. The kittens have been fed, and currently Podrick is sitting on the shelf, looking out the window. Pippin just crawled onto my lap, and is snuggling in.

We drove to SlightlyBiggerTown for supplies. We hit all the stores, except the pharmacy. But we made it work. We stopped at the weed store, and I ran in grabbing our two carts. Then I popped into the other vape store to get my two vapes that’ll last the next two weeks. The one I opened is vanilla banana. It tastes just like the bananas that you get from the vending machine inside Walmart.

Back to work this afternoon. I’m totes working for the weekend! 5 shifts, and I have the weekend off. That’s what’s powering me. I can’t remember if I posted about this, but Saturday afternoon, my mom texted me a picture of my grandmother dressed up for Halloween with a big smile on her face. She’s gotten better, and had a blast according to my mom. That’s awesome!! I was so happy to hear the news.

I need more coffee.

If you keep talking like that, I’ll find the Tiffy time to beat your ass like I did last week

Good morning everyone. I really had no idea what day it is when I woke up this morning. I had to really think what day it was. Then I remembered that we watched Saturday Night’s Main Event last night.

I’m on a day off today, and we won’t be heading to Shady Acres this afternoon. Nope. It’s my only day off, so we’ll be heading to SlightlyBiggerTown for supplies, and then back to the Flat to do laundry. It’s a short 24 hours off, but we’ll be making the most of it.

I got a text from my mom with a picture of her and my grandmother. My grandmother is all dressed up for Halloween with a smile on her face. It was great news, and helped me make it through the night.

It wasn’t a bad night at work. It definitely could have been a lot busier. I think a lot of people were laying low, sleeping off their Halloween hangovers. It was, in all honesty, slow. But me and Bing Bing made it through the night. He’s getting better, and figuring out how to interact with coworkers. He’s not a bad kid, he just needs direction.

So in a little while, we’ll be heading out. Coffee first, of course.

To a world where madness craves

Welp, back to work again this afternoon. Last shift, and I get a whole day off! That’s incredible! I’m still getting used to working 5 shifts a week. I told the guy that made the schedules that it’ll take me a week or two to get used to a 40 hour week again.

No biggie at all.

It was Halloween last night, and only a handful of people came in dressed up. It’s crazy how many high school students still go trick or treating here. I can’t remember when I stopped trick or treating. Probably somewhat young. I was a tall kid.

Driving through town, as I had to pick up the mail. I see some truck or treaters still running around. Probably up to no good. I drive past a hay bale in the middle of the road. I don’t think anything of it, it’s Halloween after all. I pull up to the post office, and since I don’t trust the youth in town on Halloween, I get out of the truck and lock it. In the post office, I separate my mail from my parents and walk back to the truck.

That hay bale I mentioned?

On fire.

It doesn’t even faze me. I look at it, and think to myself – there’s the trick. Of course they’d have a hay bale, the school is probably 75% farmers. And I head out on my way home. Once home, I snuggle with The Beautiful One, and we sit and watch Smackdown, then head to bed, where I crash out and don’t move until I hear Podrick doing Podrick things in the bathroom. I pick up what he’s knocked down, and go back to sleep closing the bedroom door behind me.

Happy Saturday!
