To a world where madness craves

Shawshank, November 1, 2025

Welp, back to work again this afternoon. Last shift, and I get a whole day off! That’s incredible! I’m still getting used to working 5 shifts a week. I told the guy that made the schedules that it’ll take me a week or two to get used to a 40 hour week again.

No biggie at all.

It was Halloween last night, and only a handful of people came in dressed up. It’s crazy how many high school students still go trick or treating here. I can’t remember when I stopped trick or treating. Probably somewhat young. I was a tall kid.

Driving through town, as I had to pick up the mail. I see some truck or treaters still running around. Probably up to no good. I drive past a hay bale in the middle of the road. I don’t think anything of it, it’s Halloween after all. I pull up to the post office, and since I don’t trust the youth in town on Halloween, I get out of the truck and lock it. In the post office, I separate my mail from my parents and walk back to the truck.

That hay bale I mentioned?

On fire.

It doesn’t even faze me. I look at it, and think to myself – there’s the trick. Of course they’d have a hay bale, the school is probably 75% farmers. And I head out on my way home. Once home, I snuggle with The Beautiful One, and we sit and watch Smackdown, then head to bed, where I crash out and don’t move until I hear Podrick doing Podrick things in the bathroom. I pick up what he’s knocked down, and go back to sleep closing the bedroom door behind me.

Happy Saturday!

Happy hump day y’all! That’s right. It’s Wednesday! Oh, and guess what? It snowed last night. Just a dusting, but it snowed. Yay. Snow. Yesterday wasn’t too bad. Just a lot of driving. But that’s ok, I don’t mind driving. By the time we left, the customer was happy and…

Good morning my southern friends. It’s me, Shawshank. You know, north of the wall. How’s the weather down there? It looks pretty calm right now. But later? Who knows! Podrick was nice enough to let me sleep until about 7:20ish. That seems to be about the time he wants us…

Good Thursday morning everyone. I think it’s gonna be a warm one today. It was starting to get warm in bed. Podrick was a gentleman this morning, for the most part. He let me sleep, but he beat up Crystal’s Switch. But it’s all put back where it’s supposed to…
