Mondrei (drei is German for 3)

Who’s your favourite fictional couple?

Wow, that’s either an easy answer, or a very difficult one. Depending on what you expect me to say. Heh. The easy one would be to say Bella and Edward. Or even Hermione and Ron. But that might be really too easy, amirite? So I’ll have to say Eric and Clio from The Raw Shark Texts. They have a great banter back and forth. You can almost feel the love come off the page.

What’s a book you’d give as a present?

Hmm. This is a hard one. There’s been so many great books that I’ve read this year. I’d have to say that I’d have no problem giving House of Leaves as a gift. Or even Ship of Theseus. My number one would definitely be House of Leaves.

What was your least favourite book you’ve read this year?

Simple! I really really did not like The Goldfinch. Totally unliveable characters, I won’t even mention the mess that the author called “the middle of the book”. I’m pretty sure I didn’t finish it because everyone in the book is a terrible person, and life is too short to waste time on a shitty book.

Until next time, book nerds!

Was the Night before Christmas – 40 below when Snoopy went up in search of his foe

Good morning everyone. It’s Monday, need I say anything more? I had a pretty sucktastic sleep last night. The Melatonin, it did nothing. Nothing at all.

But it’s ok. Least I don’t have to be at work today. Today, I’m going to SlightlyBiggerTown to buy more sleep aids. By sleep aids, I mean legal weed.

Coffees ready. Be right back.

We got an offer on the house. My first thought it we should take it, because I don’t know if we’d get another offer. I’m trying to stay positive. I just want the house sold so it’s gone.

It’s going to be a long day here. It’s hard when you wake up exhausted.

Happy Monday my friends. Let’s make it the best Monday that it can be. I love you.

Book club: Brave New World/The Girl on the Train

Just wanted to drop a quick note to all my book nerds out there. I don’t think I’ll be able to host the Lockup Library Book Club today. It’s just been too hectic here at Shady Acres.

Between helping my mom bake, I’ve shovelled the falling snow twice, cleaned and refilled the pellet stove, and when my mom is done baking, I’ll be taking over the kitchen to bake Crystal’s World Famous Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cake.

She’s going to give it to my dads boss, so this cake will be an international phenomenon.

So hopefully, next week the book club will be back in full force. But I will admit, I’m not too impressed with Brave New World. I don’t know if I have to be in the right frame of mind, or if I’m just not into it. I’ll try to read a little more before I decide either way. I think I’ve gone 100s of books since my last DNF.

Until next week, book nerds!

Dancin’ and prancin’ in jingle bell square

Good morning party people. It’s Sunday, and it’s dark out. Last night, after a very disappointing Christmas episode on SNL, I just zonked out. Out like a light. I was a little tossy turny. At about 6, I was woke up by a sound that really sounded like I had just knocked my bowl off the side of my bed.

I didn’t knock the bowl off the side of my bed.

I thought nothing of it, and went back to sleep until my alarm scared the crap out of me, and it was time to start my day. I got up, and got dressed. I leave my room, and go across the hall to pee and brush my teeth. I’m doing the ol thousand yard stare through the shower, and my eyes catch what made the sound about an hour and a half earlier.

I stared at it in disbelief, as I completed my business. Then I got up, and got most of the litter back into the box. Those cats must have had a wild night. I can only think that one of them was in the box, doing what cats do, only to be ambushed as they were leaving. Ensuing chaos, as she exited, in hopes to defend herself.

So yeah, it’s been a crazy morning here at Shady Acres. But I have my coffee, and apparently, I have a new tradition; I have a Christmas movie on. I guess in this one, that one chick from lost that Crystal hates, is looking for love. Let’s see how this one pans out.

There’s a few things I have to get done today. I have to clean the stove, I need to read for at least an hour. There’s book club, and I have to get 2 or 3 more posts in the queue. It’ll be a busyish day. Or at least the afternoon

So tell me, does the road to the Superb Owl still go through Foxboro? Haha. Happy Sunday everyone!

Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree

So I get out of work, and I’m sitting down watching TV. Because that’s what I do. The grandfather clock bings every 15 minutes. It bings at 3:45 which prompts my mom to look at her watch and say:

Is the grandfather clock fast, or is my watch slow?”

My grand mother looks up and locks at her watch, the clock 4 inches from her, and says:

My watch is saying 3:44, and my clock says 3:46. The grandfather clock should be right.”

Narrator: “It’s not.” *

In this house, just on the main floor, there are 10 clocks. 10 clocks. There’s only 5 rooms, plus the bathroom. It’s insane how many clocks there are. And guess what? Every clock has a DIFFERENT time.

Don’t get me started on the number of calendars this house has. I can see 2 within 10 feet of me. My grandmother used to hang a calendar in the bathroom because “you never know when you need to know what day it is.”

My mom ended up looking at her iPad for the correct time. where she was sitting she could see 4 clocks!

All I can do is shake my head and laugh internally. I don’t think I want to get old.

I’m mentally tired, and I’m really missing Crystal today. But tonight, I get to video chat her, and have our SNL date tonight. That’s going to be awesome.

* I’m not complaining or bitching about my family. So please don’t take it that way. This is just a slice of life that I don’t think I’ve ever really mentioned on here. I laugh when I think about the content of this post.

I love you so much ❤️
