Home video: The Christmas Club

Here’s another edition of Lockup Library Home Video. Its the Christmas season, so it’s another Hallmark movie. Hey in my defence (as bad as it is), there’s nothing on TV at 7:30 in the morning. So I usually catch the last 15 minutes of one movie, and then I can catch the whole next movie.

This weeks movie is The Christmas Club.

In all honesty, I haven’t really been paying attention to the movie, but the plot is tried and true.

Two strangers meet to help an old woman find her live savings, which by the looks of it totalled about $80 dollars. One is a dance instructor, the other, I think is in real estate. They have total chemistry. And by chemistry I mean it’s like a lab rat and a scientist type of chemistry.

She finds out that his client wants to buy her dance studio and turn it into something.

I think he’s going to surprise her by buying another building for her studio.

It’s a Christmas miracle.

ALL THE PLOTS ARE THE SAME.

But if you’d really grab me tight – all the way home I’d be warm

So we had our first major snowstorm here. I couldn’t tell if it was snowing hard, or if it was the 30kmh winds. I think it was the winds because where i had just shovelled it had drifted.

I think it snowed maybe 6-7 inches. Total. My dad says there’s about 4 inches on the ground where I shovelled last night.

Coffee.

I slept like a stone last night. Up just once to pee. And then I was out again. I needed a solid sleep like that.

My mom has some pretty wild cats, and this is what she has to do every night. I don’t think they even exchanged gifts or put up a tree last year or the year before. Somewhere in there is a gift for me and Crystal. When I saw it last night, I had tears in my eyes.

So yeah. Sigh. Tears. I love you

This or that Tuesday

This one is also a fun one, forcing me to choose this or that. Sometimes I can choose, sometimes I can’t. It’s fun to figure out when I can or can’t.

So let’s not wait for it. Let’s get this party started. It’ll be lit, as the kids say these days.

Trilogy or book series of 10+ books?

Why not both? Here’s where I can’t choose. I loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and my favourite book series would be the Dresden Files. I’m happy with both. But here’s the real question, what ever happened to just simple stand alone books? Why does every new book have to be part of a series?

Would you want to own a bookstore or have a large personal library?

Is the bookstore a small but cozy store that you can just walk up and down the aisles, or am I like a manager at a Barnes and Noble? If it’s a small but cozy store. I’d be happy to own it. If it’s a manager position at B&N, no thanks it’s like a toy store that carries some books.

What book would you like to see under the tree this year?

I’d be pretty happy with any book under the tree and I’ll probably get one. But there’s no tree here. We’re the only house on this corner of the block with no Christmas lights. It doesn’t even feel like Christmas here. But anyways, back to the question. I’d like to get The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle – Agatha Christie meets Groundhog Day.

Until next time book nerds!

So deck those halls – trim those trees

Good morning everyone. I’m just gonna cut to the point. I had a much better sleep than the night before. It still took a few minutes to fall asleep, and sleep was light before the alarm went off. But it was a better sleep than the night before.

I could’ve slept for another couple of hours. But I forced myself to get up and dressed.

Coffee.

So I’ve been internally freaking out because we’re expecting lots of snow – like 25 centimetres of snow. Sounds like a lot huh? Well I just did a cm to inch converter. It’s only like 9.8 inches. That’s not a lot. I don’t have to freak out anymore. I’m not worried at all now. I’m getting used to Celsius but centimetres and that stuff. Still working on it.

So just two full days of work. Today, and tomorrow. Thursday, we close at 2. Thursday at 3, I’ll probably be wrapping the gifts for mom, dad, and gramma. Because that’s how I roll.

Happy Tuesday y’all.

Book haul

Hey there book nerds! I have another book haul! I know, I know, I can’t read what I have, why am I buying more books? Because it was full a bag for a buck, and there was one that’s been on my list for a while. Is that enough? Ok then, how ‘bout this:

One book = .50c, or a bag of books for $1. So logically, it’s better to buy a bag of books rather than just one.

Right?

I think I’m most excited about The Haunting of Hill House. But they all look good, don’t they?

On another note. All the Christmas shopping is done. But this year, it’s just going to be another day. There’s no tree, and we’re the only house on the block with no lights. This is the first year that I’m really getting sick of Christmas music.

304 days.
