Lockup Library – some of the books I read last year – part 1 Shawshank, February 10, 2021February 10, 2021 Ahh, part one of a three part mini series. Hello book nerds! Welcome back, pull up a chair and settle in. Part one is the biggest of the three parts. The first pile It’s a big one isn’t it? In the grand scheme, it’s not a lot, but it’s a start, isn’t it? This is also the only pile of books, that there are one or two books that I won’t reread. I always try and be diplomatic and positive in my book clubs, and reviews, but two of these books won’t be reread. I’m holding on to one of those for Crystal to read when she gets here. That book? The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. The other book that doesn’t get a reread from me is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. I didn’t enjoy either of these books. And it was a slog to get through them. I shouldn’t have to put that much energy into doing something that I love. Thankfully I only put pocket change into buying them. The only other one that was meh, was The Escape Artist by Brad Meltzer. It wasn’t great, it wasn’t terrible. But it was like he tried to remake The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in America, and he paired her with a mortician. Odd couple? For sure. And, if you’ve been following this blog for a while, this pile has my favourite book in it. Go a head, hope you guess my name! Catch ya later, book nerds! I was wrong. This… Read More
