It was nothing that Podrick did this morning. I promise. My eyes just opened, and then I was awake. I didn’t even really hear Pod moving around this morning. So I called the kitties. Pippin was on the bed quickly after that, but of course, just out of reach for morning skritchies. so we’re up, and the morning kibble has been put out for Podrick, who totally ignores it. Pippin is dining in the bedroom. She prefers her breakfast be taken privately, away from him, and the rest of the staff.
Work wasn’t too bad in the morning. I did all the opening steps, and I even opened a couple minutes early. It was a weird Saturday. It was slow and busy at the same time. So time really kinda shuffled forward, but then sometimes, it jumped a head. At 1:05, I get the text message:
“Are you morning shift?”
Great this is going to go two ways:
- I’m calling out, because I’m sick
- I’m going to be late
It was the second one. However, this gentleman walks slow, and at a good pace, it takes about a half hour to walk to the store from town. Thankfully, his co-worker for the evening walked in, so I texted the walker:
“Your co-worker just got here. I’m on my way to get you.”
A couple minutes later, I’m heading back to the house to pick up Crystal, to head to the greenhouse to find something for Mother’s Day, for my, um, mother. We found a red plant. It’s also green. Perhaps a calla Lilly, or it could be a jalapeño plant. I texted my mom to see if she was awake, and at the same time, my mom texted to see if I could pick up, wait for it … lard.
Grabbed the lard and headed over to Shady Acres. Mom let us in, and she was surprised that Crystal was there, and then we handed her the pepper plant (or calla Lilly), and wished her a happy Mother’s Day.
And now the rest of the day is ours. Same as today. Laundry day. Chores. Brunch.
Coffee.
