Book Club: The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

Ok book nerds, I’m really trying to get back into the swing of things and actually try to bring back the Lockup Library Book Club.

So for the balance of this month, and probably next month, the book is going to be The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton.

I just started to read it yesterday afternoon, and I’m totally hooked. I can’t wait to have a chance to sit down and read some more!

Until next time, book nerds!

If you wanna see Heaven, brother, here’s your chance

Good morning, hap hap happy Wednesday. It’s a drizzly day here, and I think it’s supposed to rain all day. Something tells me, that fall is VERY close.

Summers are short here. Short and intense.

Coffee is brewing and the news is on.

I had an ok sleep last night. I think I only woke up once in the night. The bed was so nice and snuggly, I didn’t want to get up this morning.

But I did, and here we are. Let’s all have a good day, shall we?

Book Review: Bats of the Republic

Hey hey book nerds! Long time no reading. Yeah, I went through a bit of a reading slump as of late. But thanks to BossLady being gone, and harvest here, it’s pretty slow at work. So I ran home and grabbed my book.

Let me first say that this is a gorgeous book. When it finally arrived, I quickly flipped through it while on a video call with Crystal – she’s the one that thought that I’d like it, she knows my tastes so well. I loved it on first sight.

Bats of the Republic by Zachary Thomas Dodson is an amazing book. Essentially, there’s two stories – the first one is set in the Republic of Texas in the year 2143, and the second in 1843. These two stories are intertwined.

I don’t want to give too much away – but I will mention an envelope in the back of the book that says DO NOT OPEN. I had finished the book, and was still uncertain if I should open it.

I’m glad that I did. What a great book – I think I understand it. But you know what’s great about books? If you don’t understand a part in it, you can go back and reread it.

I definitely plan to reread this beautiful amazing book.

Until next time, book nerds!

Insert theme from Magnum PI here

Awake. It’s sunny, and wicked windy out. According to my phone they lifted the thunderstorm watch about 3am. I had an ok sleep. Up about the same time when my left knee decided to lock up. Always fun.

Someday I’ll tell you of the time I took an arrow to the knee.

It’s back to work today – the coffee is already brewing.

It was a total lazy day yesterday. I watched 14 episodes of the reboot of Magnum PI. I’m really surprised that I didn’t dream of it.

Anyways, have a great Tuesday everyone. Try to stay warm!

Without somebody nothing ain’t worth a dime

Good morning! It’s a crisp 7 beaver units outside this gray morning. it’s supposed to get slightly warmer today. I was hoping for the sun to be out this morning.

But alas, earwax.

It’s not bright and sunny.

So that means it’s a perfect day to do a little bit of absolutely nothing.

And that’s what I’m going to do, with the help of coffee.

Have a great Monday, y’all.
