Home video – Riverdale

Riverdale Season 4, Episode 1: In Memorandum.

Last night I watched this episode. I learned a couple of things as I watched this episode.

  • I’m not on the newest season. I’m one back.
  • This was the most normal episode.
  • I can cry to an episode of Riverdale.
  • The writers when they want to, can tug at your heart strings.
  • HARD

It was a very special episode. If you’re an 80s or 90s kid, you’ll know what I mean. It was the first episode back after Luke Perry passed away.

I was on the verge of tears almost the whole episode, but it was the last 4 or 5 minutes that really pushed me over the edge. With a quick sniffle about 15ish minutes in.

Shannon fucking Doherty.

Perfect little cameo, uncredited.

Very good, very powerful episode. Not really how I wanted to spend an hour, but I’m sure the next episode will be off the rails and back to normal.

Bright and early for the daily races, Going nowhere

Good morning everyone! I wasn’t cold while I slept last night. I added another blanket and turned up the bed an extra level. I think I will take it down a level tonight. It was just a little too warm.

Coffee.

It’s still cold out there. -19, but it feels like -30. I don’t have any plans to actually go anywhere today. So I can stay warm inside. I have all my laundry ready for laundry day, and it’s also a day to watch Sherlock with my mom. She’s loving the BBC series. We’re on season 2, episode 2.

But for now, morning news, quiet, and coffee.

Book club – The Arctic Fury

Hey hey book nerds! It’s Sunday, so you know that means it’s time for Meet the Press er, that’s not right. It’s time for The Lockup Library Book Club. That’s right, if you’re new here we do this every week. I try hard to do one book a month. This month, I started a little late, and this book is a little on the thick side. So it may bleed into February, but we’ll see. I’ve been reading more at night – simply because I haven’t found a replacement for Netflix’s Bridgerton, but I digress.

Ok, The Arctic Fury. What a ride so far. Each chapter is either in 1854 at the trial of the main character, Virginia Reeve, or in 1853. In 1853, it follows Virginia, and 11 other women who have been tasked by Lady Franklin to find her husband Sir John Franklin (Franklin’s lost expedition).

I’m really enjoying the book so far. I’m really wishing there was more chapters on the trip to the Arctic circle. The trial parts I find pretty dry. I’m sure it’s going to pick up on that front.

So if you haven’t checked of The Arctic Fury yet, do it. It’s great!

Until next time book nerds!

Home video – Bridgerton

I watched the first episode of Bridgerton a few weeks back, and when I was finished I told Crystal about it on our nightly video call. we both then kind of blew through it.

I’ve always really liked shows set in and around this time. I fell in love with Downton Abbey, and this was just the same. I’d finish an episode and immediately wish that I could watch another one.

However, with Netflix, they always leave you wanting more. 8 episodes in season 1. As you can see they’ve officially announced a second season that will start filming spring 2021. With COVID, who know when we’ll actually see the second season, and that makes me sad.

I think I like shows like Downton, and Bridgerton, because it’s so immersive, it feels like I can just disappear into them for a while. The back stories, the costumes, the story lines, I love them all.

So let’s hope that the second season appears soon, I want to disappear into it again.

This ain’t a scene, it’s a goddamn arms race

Greetings, and salutations everyone. Hello from the frozen north. It’s wicked cold out this morning. With the wind chill is -29c. Not cool. At this point, I can’t wait for spring. I’m tired of putting on layers of clothes, just to go outside.

Coffee.

It’s Sunday Funday today. I don’t have too much going on today. I have to clean the stove, and then relight it. Maybe a blog post or two, including a book club post.

It was really slow at work yesterday. There were supposed to be people coming in. 1, to talk about a dining room set for her and one for her daughter, and 2, a designer that we work with was sending someone to look at sectionals. I was very nervous and the lady coming in to talk about dining room sets, as I don’t really have the experience to do it alone. After a pep talk with BossLady, and a couple of hours playing around on the website – you can customize every part of the set, I was fairly comfortable and was ready for when she came in.

Spoiler alert: no one came in. I’m mean no one came in. So I cleaned the office, and vacuumed the sales floor, and put some swatches of fabric away.

So yeah, looking at that, I dunno if I’ll be doing anything much outside these walls. Mom found a king sized duvet, on the used marketplace on Facebook, and put in a bid. The lady says there was one person that made an offer a head of me, and if they don’t pick it up, I can go and get it. It’s only about 15 minutes from here. Then I’ll have a blanket that fits my whole bed.

But I’ll plan on getting it, when my mom gets an email saying to come and get it. Happy Sunday everyone!
