Sometimes you tell the day by the bottle that you drink

Shawshank, May 25, 2025

Usually, I’m still sleeping at this time in a Sunday. Podrick was very considerate this morning. And I think and one point, he was snuggled up to the back of knees. Good morning, happy Sunday. It’s bright and sunny, with some birds singing outside.

Coffee has been brewed and, the kittens have been fed. Podrick has gone back to his bowl for a second time, before trotting away.

Work wasn’t too bad yesterday. Slower than normal Saturday evening. But me and GenAlpha made it through. Even with a phone call around 8, with a guy about 45 minutes away with 5 tanks to fill with propane. He got there and I tried tried to get the propane into his tanks, I tried all five, and even one of ours. I just couldn’t get them to fill. Very frustrating for me, and even more frustrating to the customer that’s currently living in an RV – probably for the summer whilst working in the area. I tried for about a half hour trying to fill the tanks.

He understood that we could have a problem with our pump, so he left and I walked back into the store, now about a half hour behind all the closing things that I need to do. but we managed to get out pretty much on time. Just a frustrating, and stressful evening. But I have another register trained coworker with me. Oh, and I have to do something that the opening manager forgot to do yesterday morning.

Good times.

Coffee first.

If it’s a day that ends in a Y, that means Podrick is pushing either mine or Crystal’s buttons. Also, the little orange meatball can find the strength to launch his rotund body repeatedly at the door knob. HE CAN OPEN DOORS NOW. Great. It took a hot minute for…

I’m awake, and I’m not liking it. I passed out last night. The bed was the perfect temperature. I think I might have gotten up in the middle of the night, but I’m not too sure. Chaucer is on top of me right now. It’s gray and rainy out there….

Hands and hearts that ain’t got scars, they ain’t worth holding

June 30, 2026

It’s early. Too early to be up on a day off. It’s not all Podrick’s fault, even though most of it is. But I was wicked warm, and Sleep Daddy ™️ was just pure annoyance this morning. Then I couldn’t breathe. So that means I won’t be able to actually…
