Ten lords a-leaping

“It’s Sunday, it’s brunch day. Are you ready for a piece of bacon?” – Crystal to Chaucer. Just minutes ago.

The coffee has finished brewing, and Chaucer is in between us, and snuggly and purry. It’s Sunday. And all the light in the world is gone only blackness. Blackness and snow. That is an our life now. Winter is here.

Yesterday was a pretty good day. We got up and did our morning thing, like you do. Coffee, and Dateline. I got up and cleaned off the Hot Mess Express, since I didn’t drive it to work on Friday. I wanted to clean it off before date night. From there, we hopped into my mom’s truck and headed off in an easterly direction to SlightlyBiggerTown.

Shopping went very well. We got what was on the list, and a couple of items that I forgot to put on the list. It was busy. A little busier than normal. When we were finished, we roll up to a check out. No one is there, but the light is on. This is normal. The cashier is usually a couple lanes down, normally bagging. So we get all the product on the belt and someone comes over and tells us that the cashier was there but forgot to shut off her light, and that she would be over when she got her line down.

No problems. Were patient.

After a couple of minutes, I think the manager came over to check us out. We got everything bagged, and headed on our merry way. We hit up the dollar store, and then the pharmacy. After those to places, we popped over to the weed superstore and grabbed a little something something.

We came home and I dropped off mom’s truck and walked back for a very quick lunch. After lunch I got a turn on the switch. Well not a turn, I asked if I could play and an enthusiastic yes from Crystal. I’ve been all work and no play during the week so it was nice to settle down and play.

I played before and after dinner. No Man’s Sky is great, but is very slow. Usually after about an hour and a half of playing, that’s when actual stuff starts to happen. And true to that, I slowly started to move the main story line forward. Then you notice that it’s 9pm. So I logged off and made some hot chocolate for the both of us.

Holy cow, I’m talkative today. Happy Sunday, let’s kick some chores in the balls and claim the day!

Nine ladies dancing

I don’t think that I wanted to get out of bed this morning. The beds temperature was, to me, perfect. I think I was awake earlier, but I think I was just light sleeping before the alarm went off, but I’m not sure. All I know is that I was totes snuggly, and then there were voices in the room. I had to get up so I could stop the voices.

So it snowed here yesterday. I think the amount was more than people thought we would get. I had heard two plows had flipped over, one from about 20 minutes from here. First shift at work was wicked slow. The manager had left early. The shift I was on was just as slow. It wasn’t too bad, steady. We got out with my coworker achieving a personal best in time management.

Today, we’ll be heading into SlightlyBiggerTown for some much needed groceries, and a trip to the weed store. We have to hit up the dollar store to find a Santa hat, and some Christmas lights.

I need more coffee. Happy Saturday y’all. Let’s get ready to start the day. In a little while.

Eight maids a milking

Welp, it snowed in the night, just as forecasted. It’s still snowing out there. After a couple of hours of rain last night, it did what it was supposed to – turn to snow. We still have a couple of hours of snow to fall. It does look peaceful out there though.

Ugh, snow. Amirite?

Work last night was killer. After a couple of small rushes, it died out. From 8 to 9, I think we had one person come in. So, we finished doing what we’re supposed to have done, and it’s about 5 minutes after the lights went out, and the door was locked. A customer pulls up and just parks. Not making an effort to come in or anything. So we just ignore and finish what we were doing.

All three of us leave at the same time. That’s when she finally gets out of her vehicle. “Are you guys still open?” We kind of look back at the store – all the lights out, and the open sign not on.

“Sorry, we’re closed.” We say as we walk to our vehicles.

And that was the day. Pretty exciting, huh? Since I have to close tonight, we’re moving our date night to tomorrow night, after groceries.

But I’ll be having to shovel later, but for right now it’s coffee time. And Chaucer is already snuggled between us. Happy Friday everyone!

Seven swans a swimming

Oh, it’s morning again. That sleep went very quickly. I was up I think, around 5. Just to go to the bathroom, then I was back snuggled in the warm bed. It felt like only a couple of minutes before the alarm went off.

It’s not too bad, but a week of closing shifts is hard. Getting home between 9:15-9:30. Tonight will probably be closer to the 9:30 mark. But we’re getting closer to the weekend. This’ll be the last full weekend off, probably for a while. I almost have my big boy pants. I can mostly work unsupervised on the register.

We’re supposed to have some weather tonight, going into tomorrow. Rain tonight, then it turns into snow whilst everyone sleeps. I’ll believe it when I see it. So just a little rain before it quickly changes to snow tonight – then lots of snow tomorrow morning. Yay snow, said no one ever.

The people I work with are pretty cool. They’re very nice, and have infinite patience with me. I ask stupid questions, but they just smile and answer the questions.

But, I have two more days of closing. Then the weekend off, and I close again on Monday. Then it’s a couple of opening shifts, and a closing shift. Then my first Saturday shift. It shouldn’t be too bad. I have 90% of the basics down. It’s just remembering how to do all the functions.

It’s not rocket surgery!

Well, here we are again. Good morning, I hope y’all slept well. I’m waking up very very groggy this morning. It took me a while to fall asleep last night. I think it was a good sleep, but I’m not sure. I’ll know more in an hour or so. I mean I slept, but it doesn’t feel refreshing yet. I woke up around 6 this morning, and I don’t think I was tossy turny though. Just awake. Sometime Pippin came over and meowed, and I moved back a little and raised the blankets. She came and later down, but then got up and left. I think that’s when I started to doze off. Just a light sleep until the alarm went off.

I could feel Pippin when I was rolling over, but I didn’t feel Chaucer. I don’t know how Crystal was sleeping, I knew I couldn’t snuggle her. If I’m warm that totally means that she’s a lot more warmer than me. The king size bed is weird, I rolled over to face my side of the room, and I knew that Crystal was right behind me, but I couldn’t feel her. I knew she was there, but it felt like I had the whole bed to myself.

But we’re both up now, and Chaucer just climbed up onto my lap and has snuggled me. We have the news on, and it’s freakin dark out. However, it feels a lot warmer out there than normal. We’re above freezing here this morning! Woohoo! Also we’re expecting snow tomorrow night into Friday morning. So that should be interesting at work, but most of the snow will have fallen before I even get to work.

Ok time to start the day. Happy hump day everyone.
