Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell Shawshank, May 7, 2023 Good Sunday morning everyone. We’re in the thick of the weekend now. It’s a little gray out there with a slight breeze. But it’s not snowing, so there’s that. We were up wicked early yesterday to watch the Kings coronation, so around 10:30 last night we went to bed. Once I was comfortable, I was out. I crashed like Paul Walker* Work yesterday was ok. There were a few people that popped in just “to snoop around”. I figured it out yesterday – there’s not a lot to do in these small towns, so in an effort to get out and to do something, people will drive from small town to small town to see what’s there. I totally believe that bored people would actually go to car dealerships you know, for fun. After work, I picked up Crystal and we took off to the closest car dealership greenhouse. It’s not too far, pretty close to the only gas station on the outskirts of town. We wandered around looking at all the pretty plants. We ended up getting some Brussels sprouts, morning glory, heartbreaker, and midnight sky. I can’t wait to see what they look like when they’re all flowering and looking good. And most importantly, we’ll hopefully have some yummy sprouts in a month or two. Bonus! Today is chore day, I’ll be starting that in an hour or so. I need coffee first to power Big Chore. I contacted my landlady yesterday, and told her about the screen door. She gave me the contact info for the handyman, I copied and pasted the same text message to him, and he stopped by and took a look. He should be stopping by tomorrow to see if he can fix it. Thankfully, we’re not the only people that have a bum screen door. Alright, I’ve typed too much! It’s like a book up in here! Happy Sunday y’all! Have some coffee! *too soon? Life Come a little bit closer baby – get it on, get it on December 8, 2020 Good morning party people! I’m told it’s Tuesday today. All I know is my coffee can’t brew fast enough today. Not that I had a bad sleep. Not at all. I closed my eyes, and the next thing I know, the alarm is going off. But it’s back to work… Read More
Life And the days go by, like a strand in the wind April 12, 2021 The snow started last night, it’s supposed to snow for all of today, and tomorrow. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Saturday, I was wearing shorts. Now, I’m back in layers again. I don’t have too many plans for today. I have to dust, and plant some parsley,… Read More
Life Yo my cardio is infinite – ha ha – big willie styles all in it January 13, 2021 I think the temperature changed or something. After about 4:30-5am, it felt like I got colder or something. I think I tried to burrito. I definitely felt a lot cooler when I woke up. So that just means I have to have my coffee extra hot this morning. It’s brewing… Read More
Good morning, world. Happy midweekend for us. The skies are slightly brighter, and the wind has settled somewhat. Alas, while the cloud cover isn’t quite as dismal as the last two days, last week’s mild temps are gone. The windows are still open, but leaving the back door’s window open is just too much. This makes Pippin sad. She likes to hear the birds. I wore my new genie pants yesterday. They’re super comfy, and the fabric makes swishy sounds. I wish I had made the elastic waist an inch tighter because it’s just a hair looser than I’d be comfortable with if I didn’t have a shirt tucked in or leggings underneath, but otherwise, they’re fun. There’s also an added bonus giggle: sitting down and making them inflate. This particular style is nearly identical to the three patchwork pairs I already have. The main difference is in the waist. My existing pants have a wide, shirred waist, and these are just a flat waist with elastic inside. I’ll have more to show off later this week. We’re going to Shady Acres today, and hopefully Shawshank‘s mom still has the pattern for the pants she made for me. The bottom of that pattern turns out similar to these, very billowy and drop-crotchy. However, I think there’s a bit more fabric gathered up in the hips and waist. The local greenhouse opened up this week. Shawshank picked me up after he left work, and we drove out to see what they had to fill some pots beside the patio. We found a few things we liked for us, and scoped out ideas for Mother’s Day. The rest of the day was spent on the couch. I played some Breath of the Wild. I haven’t finished it yet. Shawshank‘s latest kick is riding his horse across the world, finding korok seeds. I’m running around, hunting for treasure chests. He asked for Friday off, because we’d initially planned to drive into the city on release day for a physical copy of the game. Eventually, he wore me down with worries about finding a store that still had copies by the time we made the 2+ hour drive. I looked on the TV screen at one point yesterday morning and saw the Nintendo Eshop listing for Tears of the Kingdom with the “preorder” button higlighted. The past tense of “highlight” should be “highlit”. Fight me. I told Shawshank to go for it, and it’s ready to go at launch on Friday. We made a deal – he can play the new game first, but we’re driving to Slightly BiggerTown and doing the regular shopping on Friday, so I can go to the secondhand shop. Reply
