Three French hens

Another dark morning. Coffee is brewing, and I’m struggling to shake the cobwebs from my head. It was a pretty good sleep. I’m still tired though. I don’t know if I’ll ever not be tired, but here we are. Good morning my friends, welcome to Sunday!

I’m pretty sure I was asleep before my head hit the pillow. The last thing that I remember is calling for Chaucer, who was singing the song of this people. I think I was still awake when he finally jumped up onto the bed. I don’t think I was awake when he finally got comfortable.

We’ll never know. Chaucer doesn’t speak English.

But here we are. When I’m finished with this post I’ll be getting up and doing laundry. We’ll probably have three loads this morning. I have to wash the sweaters that I wore all last week. Other than that, it’s a typical Sunday, which one difference: I go back to work tomorrow. The days of having three day weekends are over!

That’s ok. A normal schedule is just fine with me. I just gotta get used to it. Once I am, we’ll be right as rain.

Ok, let’s get comfy for a bit. Wake up for a little while, then it’s time for chores. Need a little more coffee in the system first. Plus Chaucer is on my lap.

Happy Sunday friends!

Midnight, and I’m a-waitin’ on the twelve-oh-five

Yep, it’s another day, just starting. Good morning everyone. It’s Sunday, and of course, it’s freakin dark out. The wind is blowing, and I don’t know if it snowed a little more, or if the wind just moved the snow around in the night. Perhaps a combination of both. We’ll never know.

Again, I was awake a little early this morning. I looked, out of curiosity. It was early. Thankfully, I was able to just close my eyes and go back to sleep. That’s a good thing.

But yeah, it’s freakin dark out there. I don’t think the sun rises now until 8 or 8:30. Only 4 or 5 months before the sun will be up before we wake up.

Tomorrow is the day. First day of a new job. I filled out the paperwork yesterday to bring in tomorrow. I only have questions about the Canadian tax stuff. Everything else is filled out. I think subconsciously I’m freaking out. There is nervousness, but I don’t feel it. I do when I think about it. I have to be up wicked early. I think that I won’t post until I get home after shift. I think it’ll be easier that way, I have a little bit to do. I haven’t made lunch for myself in the morning for years. I’ll be making that. So yeah not enough time. But this week is a training week so we’ll figure it out. Just not tomorrow.

But it’s Sunday, and that means chore day! Yay chores! But before the chores, let’s get some more coffee into me. Let’s get the day started!

In five minutes.

If you’re a man at all oh, I will figure this one out on my own

It’s dark. It was dark when we went to bed, and it’s dark when we wake up. Winter is coming. This is just the herald of winter. First they take away our warmth, then they take our light. They’ve already taken the ground. Winter is coming.

Yesterday was whirl wind. We got up at the normal time, and while I drank my go-go juice, Crystal put on her makeup. Then, after the truck warmed up a little, we were off to MostlyBiggerTown to do some shopping. We got into town around 11, and jumped right into the local Walmart. You never really forget the sounds of Walmart. They’re universal. Screaming child, just the regular din of low level noise. Check.

We started in aisle 1 in the food department, and pretty quickly went through them all, filling the cart with food. We had to backtrack once or twice, then we moved on the clothing. We split up, and I went to men’s wear, because I’m a man. I looked around and threw some socks in the cart. I walked back and looked for Crystal. My first pass didn’t reveal her, so I wandered back into men’s wear to see if there were any racks with clearance. I did find a warm jacket that I liked. It was just a little expensive. But it was on sale for 30% off. I stuffed it into the shopping cart and went off to find Crystal.

We reunited and I showed her. She agreed with me that I needed a warm jacked and said it was a good deal. There were only a couple of more items that we needed, so we went off in search of them. After we found them, and paid for everything, we drove across the plaza, and stopped at the dispensary, and then went off to McDonald’s for lunch on the road. We made good time coming back.

When we got back, I helped put stuff away, then went to fuel up the truck, and drop it off at my parents place. I walked back to the flat. It was a gorgeous afternoon. When I arrived, we went back out to the Hot Mess, and drove to Town Hall and experienced the towns winter craft fair. Mostly MLM tables and canned goods. We spent the most time over at the libraries tables, looking at the books. Nothing of substance jumped out at us, so we went home.

After dinner, we both struggled to stay awake, so after the movie (Pitch Perfect), we watched some TikTok and went to bed a little early.

I woke up around 4 I think, and successfully navigated from the bed to the bathroom, and back again with my eyes completely closed. I climbed back into bed, and snuggled into Crystal.

And now here we are! Sunday Sunday SUNDAY. Chore day. We’ll start that a little later. But for right now, coffee and dateline. What a nice way to wake up.

But maybe someday when my ship comes in she’ll understand what kind of guy I’ve been

It’s dark, but the light is slowly filtering in through the clouds. I’m pretty sure I never moved last night. At least, I don’t feel like I did. I’m a little stiff and sore this morning, but that seems to be a pretty much normal start to each day now.

Good morning my friends. It’s a new day, and that new day means that it’s chore day here. As you know, I’ll be starting that in a couple of hours. Chaucer, the big boy, just laid down on my lap. I don’t think he was on the bed with us this morning. I think Pippin was all curled up in her nest.

Yesterday wasn’t too bad. I quickly ran to work to grab my meds and the rest of the mail that I totally forgot about in my rush to leave. I remembered it shortly after I got home. So I popped out and grabbed them. I also went to the gas station to pick up some snacks and a pack of gravy for dinner.

Later on in the late afternoon, I attempted to make Sheppards pie. It was pretty good. Not what I had envisioned in my mind, but it was still edible. So that’s a bonus in my mind, even if it didn’t look like an instagram photo of Sheppards pie.

We feasted.

So here we are. Crystal has been up since 5, and I’m groggy from sleeping. I feel terrible for her, I don’t know why she’s waking up so early. I know how it is, your eyes just open and there you are – awake. I’m still optimistic, and tomorrow (it’s always tomorrow), she’ll sleep in. It never happens, but I hope that it will.

They cut off my legs, now I’m an amputee, God damn you

Well, we’re into the meat of the weekend. It’s been a busy one so far. So I worked yesterday 10-3. I asked BossLady on Friday evening, hey we’re working 10-3 tomorrow, right? She answered in the affirmative. So that’s what I planned for. Work til 3, and the head over to SlightlyBiggerTown for some groceries, and weed. Then, it was off to the restaurant for a late date night.

That breakfast platter was just what I ordered. Literally.

I have a Chaucer on my lap. He’s been waiting for this all morning, I’m sure. I slept pretty good last night. I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night, I got up about 10 minutes before the alarm went off, and I got to have an up close Pippin snuggles, right under my chin.

I wouldn’t say it was tense at work, there’s just a different dynamic in the store. You see, I gave my two weeks notice on Friday morning.

It did not go well.

Today is the last totally packed day. Chores in a few hours, and over to Shady Acres for dinner. Other than that, no plans for today. I have a couple of tasks on Monday, but that’ll take minutes.

Coffee is ready. If you want some, come on over. There’s more than enough. Happy Sunday!
