Insisting that the world keep turning our way

Good morning, happy Monday everyone. We survived another weekend. Now, I just have to survive about four hour trapped in a car with my mom and gramma.

Should be interesting. we’re going to MostlyBiggerTown. And I have a list. It’s just 2 hours to get there, and two hours to get back to the house.

Coffee first though.

Happy Monday everyone. I have to wake up now. I love you very much 😍

Book club – The Arctic Fury

Well hello, book nerds! How’re y’all doing this fine, and cold day? I’m doing pretty good, just got back from trying to get gas from the only gas station within 30 minutes. They were closed for inventory. So, no gas. I’ll have to get it tomorrow.

Anyways, we’re not here to talk about the gas situation here in TinyTown, we’re here to talk about books! Specifically, The Arctic Fury. I finished it last night. I still don’t know how I feel about the ending. It felt really rushed. I mean there was only 2 ways for it to end. Alive or dead. I don’t know which would’ve been better for the book.

The premise is great – a group of women being sent to the Arctic to find Lady Franklins husband, and his lost expedition. The adventure that follows, will change the lives of these women forever.

Aside from the lacklustre ending, the parts that I really liked was the flashbacks from their trip into the Arctic. The courtroom “scenes” were ok. I don’t know if the lawyer was a public defender or whatever the 1850s version of that, but it was very tropey of the whole lawyer not doing anything.

I think it was a flawed book with a really good premise. I hesitate to read anything else from the author. But in the future, I’ll try and keep an open mind. So yeah, just rereading this, I guess this counts as a book review as well!

Since it’s now February, it’s time for another book for this months Book Club. After wading through the two comments that I got, I’ve decided on…

Wait for it…

Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth.

I can’t wait to crack open this book and get sucked in! Until next time, book nerds!!

Say, Candy and Ronnie, have you seen them yet?

*yawn* morning. It took a lot of effort to actually drag myself out of bed this morning. The alarm went off, I shut it off, and curled back up. I think I fell asleep for five minutes. When I woke up, I didn’t know what time it was. I didn’t know if my alarm when off.

SNL last night was good. Better than it has been the last couple of episodes. So it was a good date night with Crystal.

Not too many things to do today. I have to clean the stove and relight it, and I have to fuel the truck for tomorrow. I’ll do it when Shady Acres goes down for their afternoon nap.

Then the fun stuff; I get to do a Book Club post today, and there’s still time to go to my book post to help me choose my next book! Yay audience participation!

But right now, coffee. Sweet sweet coffee. Happy Sunday everyone!

Book club – what’s next?

Hey book nerds! I interrupt your nice a quiet Saturday evening to ask a question. I just finished The Arctic Fury, (more on that at our regular book club meeting) and I’d like to know, which book to read next.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve read these books before, or have never heard of them. I’m going to ask you to simply choose – based solely on the cover. So yes, please, judge a book by its cover.

You tell me what you want me to read for February’s book club, and that’s the one I’ll read. Seriously, you choose, and I’ll read.

Here’s the choices:

Simple! Just make a quick comment, and I’ll introduce it at the end of book club tomorrow!

Come one! Come all!

So happy just to be alive – Underneath the sky of blue

Awake! I must have been cold last night/this morning, because I tried to burrito in the bed, so I had to fix the bed, because it looked like a bomb went off on it.

We were joking around last night and told BossLady that when she was done her phone call she should go and get us booze so we could drink. That turned into going next door for dinner and drinks. The food was pretty good. I had a steak (medium – because my mom cooks them to death), fries and a Caesar salad. Not bad for $16

Apparently, I’m a beer snob, according to my coworkers. They said this when I opted for a coke (would a Pepsi be ok?), instead of a beer because they had shit on tap. And I didn’t want to drink a bud, bud lite, or michelob ultra. They were making suggestions for what mixed drink I should have, I was afraid that they wouldn’t know what a White Russian was, so I opted for a coke (would a Pepsi be ok?)

Those extra 2 hours just drained me. Crystal told me about the Spoon Theory. It’s so true. Those last two hours took the last of my spoons, and I was mentally drained when I got home. Thankfully, I called Crystal as soon as I got home, because I was so close to tears, and I didn’t know why. So she showed me funny video to make me laugh. She gave me enough spoons to make it another couple of hours before I went to sleep.

Today is Saturday, and I don’t have any plans today. When Shady Acres goes down for their afternoon nap, as Crystal suggested I’ll put on a Netflix – I think I already know what I’m going to watch, and I should be able to get an episode of Lupin before everyone wakes up.

Ok, time to enjoy my coffee, and chat with Crystal. Happy Saturday everyone. Have a super sparkly day.
