Listen to Iron Maiden, baby, with me

Good morning, according to my weather alerts, it’s still bloody cold out there. It was supposed to be warmer out there. It’s not and I’ll be helping load a trailer in the cold. That’s ok, it has to be done.

It’s family day here. It’s an actual holiday. Family day right after a weekend. It boggles the mind.

Oh, great news, Wednesday I’ll be having Crystal guest posting here about her favourite book in the world, and how she’s taken book crafts to the extreme. It should be a great post for Lockup Library, and a very interesting read!

But for right now, Shady Acres is still asleep, and I have coffee. Let’s break the norm, and celebrate that it’s Monday! Woohoo Monday!

Book club – Plain Bad Heroines

Hey book nerds! We’re still talking about Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth. We’re at the half way point in the book, and if you’re like me while reading, you totally are getting sucked in as soon as you open the book. It makes it very hard to put it down when you want to go and do something else.

It’s still a very slow burn, which is what I really am liking about this. I’m thinking that it’s going to be like a rollercoaster cresting the top, and getting over the hump. I think it’s going to go by in a flash. I can and can’t wait for it.

When I get to the middle of a book, I start to get a little anxiety about finishing it. Not because I want it to end, but because the book is almost over. Then the anxiety of choosing the next book.

I really like the writing style of Mrs Danforth. It’s so meta, and really self aware. What do you guys like about the book? Any questions about it? Be sure to put them in a comment, and I’ll try to answer them.

Until next time, book nerds!

Easy like a Sunday morning

Finally what felt like a deep restful sleep. I was a little tossy turny, but for the most part it was a solid, restful, no moving sleep. It felt really good.

It was date night last night. After going back and forth on what we wanted to watch, I settled on watching the first two episodes of Ozark. We were both excited about a second season of Black Spot, before realizing that we’d already watched it. The first two episodes of Ozark were really good. I now have another show to watch. This one is almost at the top of the list, so I can catch up with Crystal. I do have some time, as she’s working her way through Buffy.

Only a couple of chores to do today. Just the stove. Gotta clean it and then relight it. It’s actually pretty easy, and only takes about 20 minutes. Then I’ll continue to relax.

The coffee is ready. Want a cup? Come on over. There’s more than enough.

Good morning, TinyTown

Lockup Library – some of the books I read last year – part 2

Welcome back, book nerds! I know you’ve been on the edge of your seats, with bated breath – just waiting for part two. Well, your wishes have been answered!

So without further adieu, here’s part two of some of the books I read last year, or as I like to called it: Shawshank has learned how to stack books.

Part 2 and a picture!

Just a short stack, you know, to draw this series out – a blatant grab for more hits! Or as I call it, a small but powerful stack of books.

All of these, I would totally reread if given the chance (and time). I really enjoyed reading them all. Two of them, I watched the TV shows before reading the books. The shows were good, but the books were really good.

It’s almost the end of this mini series of posts. It’ll be time for the big finale soon. So hold on, book nerds – it’s about to get a little crazy!

I’ll smack that ass and pull your hair like that

First things first. I’m really really getting tired of this freakin cold. If it could, I’d wish that it could die in a fire. But that’s like an oxymoron, right?

My mom when she went for her doctors appointment in BigCity, surprised me, and bought a second chromecast. So now I have a TV in my room. I have been watching Downton Abbey on the CBC Gem app. It’s a weird app, if I watch on my phone, there’s commercials. If I cast it to the tv, no commercials. But now instead of going out to the living room for date night, I can stay in my room.

No major plans today. Maybe work on some book posts for the upcoming week. But mostly just want to relax. Monday I’ll be helping BossLady load up the trailer so she can go to BigCity and set up her latest work venture. Should only take a half hour to an hour to do that. And it’s supposed to be warmer come Monday.

But for now, coffee and a terrible morning show called the Marilyn Denis Show. But thankfully it’s over now, and the prerecorded morning show. Happy Saturday y’all!
