She obliterated everything she kissed

Just a quick book haul. I’m bleeding the local second hand stores of their good books. It’s starting to be slim pickings – which is a good thing, because I have a few books in a pile to read.

I plan on when I’m finished with The Historian to offer up the next book to read (and book club) to you guys. But that’s another post entirely.

Anyways, here’s the book haul 🙂

I need a photo opportunity – I want a shot at redemption

Went to SlightyBiggerTown today for some running around, including groceries. So we carved out some time for me to hit the second hand store for a…..

BOOK HAUL!

I walk in, and do a couple of passes on the book cases, and only find one lonely Stephen King. And it’s the book that I made fun of when we watched the movie long ago. MITER GAY! MITER GAY! Crystal does say the book is better than the movie. Fingers crossed

So I start to walk back to pay for it, and I spy a little blue sign that says fill a bag of books for a buck. Say no more, a nudge is as good as a wink to a blind bat, yanno! So I went up to the counter and asked for a bag, and went back for more.

I’ll try and be short with my motivations for buying each book. Please hold all questions to the end of the presentation.

Sometimes you just need a mindless book. Of course it’ll have to be a Jack Reacher novel – now with 100% less Tom Cruise.

I’ve never seen the movie, but a quick google says this one could be scary.

The Cemetery Dance is your chance to do the hump – now it’s stuck in your head too.

Now this one just looks kinda of cool. Who doesn’t judge books by their covers?

Now by this point of been over these 4 bookcases (that are a lot and I mean a LOT of Danielle Steel, and other romances), and this little gem is sitting there, just waiting for me to pick it up. I’d have pushed people out of the way to get it. The TV show was amazing.

Any questions?

You walk like an angel, talk like an angel

It’s a another book haul – with a twist. One of the books, if I had known it was part 1 I probably would’ve put it back. I have a feeling it’s going to be hard to find part 2 – book club edition.

So a while back, I bought a Stephen King book in a bag sale. When I got home, I found out it was part 2 of a trilogy. I figured it would be easy to find the other parts – because it’s Stephen King, and he puts out books like there’s no tomorrow. Well today I found part one! The King collection grows!

Why the hell would you split a book into two volumes? Then say it’s a “book club edition”? What the hell? I swear if it ends on a cliff hanger, and I can’t find part two, I’ll only read the Twilight Saga from now on.

I did put two books back, so when we go to SlightlyBiggerTown, I’d have $2 towards an even larger selection of books.

Happy reading!

They’re gonna clean up your looks, with all the lies in the books

I have a book haul! Well, a book haul over the last two days. Completionist? Yeah, it’s been picking at me.

When I first got to TinyTown, I found The Lord of the Rings. Cool, I thought. Then a few weeks later, I was in a rush and thought I was picking up book two, when it was really book three. That annoyed me. Like a month or two ago, while in SlightlyBiggerTown, I found book two, but thought, I didn’t need it right away, but if it’s here the next time, I’d pick it up. That went on for weeks. I finally got it today. Set completed.

I’ve been searching for this one for a while. Like I told my mom, this will be good (set completed) until I can buy it so it matches the other ones in the set. Now, finally, I can read the whole saga again. Woot! Lmao now the mission is to find all the mass market paperbacks for the saga! Oh my god, what have I started?

This one is for Crystal. I know how much she loves this series, I saw it at the end of last week. I asked her if she wanted me to get it. She said not to worry about it, but you should’ve seen her eyes light up when I showed it to her last night. It made my whole week to see her happy with it. Now, another series to find all the books for her! Granted, I’ll probably read it too.

Sometimes I’m a strong man, sometimes cold and scared

So I emailed the local library asking when the next book sale will be they didn’t have a date planned, but they said I could come down and poke through their shed of books.

Nothing jumped out at me – a lot of Readers Digest Condensed books, kids books, a couple of James Bond novels, but nothing I had to have.

I did volunteer to organize the books and take photos for an online book sale. But we’ll see if that pans out. I’ve offered to volunteer at a couple of places, and people seemed excited, but nothing has come of it. It’s been six months and nothing yet. But maybe I’ll be able to help the library out.

So from there, I hoofed it over to the second hand store. I stood in line for half an hour – as they have their pandemic rules in effect, only six people in at a time. That’s ok, I’ve never seen it that busy. Then I saw why, they’re doing a bag sale – stuff a bag full of clothes, and only pay $7

I did manage to find two books!

Can’t wait to start them after the book I’m currently reading. Crystal always says that his short stories are really good, but I don’t think she’s read these ones because they are some of his newer ones. We’ll see how it turns out.

Yay reading!
